Cape Cares
Building Relationships. Opening Doors. Restoring Hope.
OUR MISSION: Bringing our community together to show our neighbors that Cape cares.
Cape Cares, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. We bring people and community resources together to care for neighbors experiencing homelessness, housing instability, and economic hardship.
Our Vision
A community where every person has a safe place to call home, meaningful relationships, and the opportunity to live with dignity, stability, and hope.
Who We Are
Cape Cares was formed in 2026 to sustain and strengthen the community work that grew around the Cape Warming Center and to create opportunities for continued service in our community. Our work is grounded in the belief that relationships matter. By bringing people together to serve, we seek to demonstrate in tangible ways that our community cares for its neighbors.

A PROGRAM OF CAPE CARES
Cape Warming Center
The Cape Warming Center provides a safe, warm, temporary overnight place for people to sleep during extreme cold weather.
The Warming Center uses a low-barrier, relationship-first approach. In addition to meeting an immediate need for warmth and safety, volunteers and community partners build relationships with guests and help connect them with resources and support.
Warming Center Mission
To show God's love by providing a safe, warm, temporary overnight place for people to sleep in extreme cold weather.
Community Powered
During our most recent Warming Center season, more than 170 individuals were served with the help of more than 400 community volunteers. The Warming Center is possible because individuals, churches, organizations, businesses, and community partners come together to care for our neighbors.
